Charles Smurthwaite, DDS, MS

We think its fantastic you found us. I am Dr. Charles Smurthwaite and I want to personally welcome you to our practice. We believe that a great looking and healthy smile can improve your entire outlook on life and contribute to greater overall health. This belief has motivated me though advanced training in laser periodontal therapy, neuromuscular occlusion, and orthodontics at the Las Vegas Institute and the Strait-Wire Academy. Cosmetic dentistry and orthodontics are truly my passion. An artistic element, advanced training and the latest technologies in dentistry come together to create the perfect smile for our patients. I’m grateful for the confidence so many have placed in our team at Smile Quest Dental.

My family and I are  residents of Rocklin and have a vested interest in the long term direction of our community.  We are active in the community with our kids who attend local public school.  It is not uncommon to see patients around town, so don’t be a stranger!

Dr. Smurthwaite is a graduate from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. He received a Masters Degree in Biology from Southern Illinois University and a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology from Brigham Young University. He has received advanced training in Laser Periodontal Therapy, Neuromuscular Occlusion from the Las Vegas Institute and Orthodontics from Invisalign and the Strait-wire Academy.

Gina Salatino, DMD

Dr. Salatino is a graduate of California State University of Sacramento where she earned a bachelor’s degree in biology. She received her Dental degree at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. In her spare time Dr. Salatino enjoys many hobbies which include soccer, volleyball, snowboarding, wakeboarding, horseback riding, and golf. She is also an accomplished guitarist and has been improving her musical talents for over 17years.

Dr. Salatino has 5 nieces and 2 nephews and enjoys spending time with them as much as possible.  Her goals in dentistry are to help patients achieve and maintain their optimum oral health as well as be confident and happy with their smile.

Dr. Salatino is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, Dental Organization for Oral Conscious Sedation, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Association of Endodontics, California Dental Association, American Dental Association, Christian Medical & Dental Association and Sacramento Dental Society.

Jewell, Clinic Administrator

Jewell is our Smile Quest office manager who does a little bit of everything and a whole lot of most things. She is in charge of helping our practice run smoothly and good luck trying to find her around the office without a smile on her face. Jewell has been in the dental field for 26 wonderful years. She enjoys helping patients reach their dental goals as well as making it possible to afford dental treatment. When Jewell is not in the office she enjoys spending time with her fiancé, Joe, and her 13 year-old son, Justin.

Angela, Back office Manager

Angela is the senior dental assistant at Smile Quest Dental with Board Certification as a Registered Dental Assistant with Extended Function classification.  She has a passion for details and for serving others and making them feel relaxed and confident during their office visits.  Ask Angela about her job and she’ll tell you “I absolutely love my work and the patients that visit Smile Quest”.

Kathleen, Treatment Coordinator

Kathleen has worked in the medical/dental field for 8 years. Her first love is family, after this she loves to help people in any way that she can. At Smile Quest she helps our patients receive the dental treatment they need. Changing lives by brightening smiles is what she loves most about her job. Kathleen is always willing to help if you ever need anything at all!

Theresa, Front Office Team Leader

Theresa has lived and worked in the Roseville / Rocklin area for twenty years. She comes to SQD with over 10 years experience in the dental field and enjoys working with our patients to help them get the most out of their insurance benefits. Theresa is a very detail oriented and has vast experience with medical and dental insurance billing.

Ali, Front Office Coordinator

With over nine years of experience as a dental professional, Ali provides the best possible care to all of our patients. In recent years Ali has transitioned from the back office as a registered dental assistant to the front office.  She is highly skilled in every aspect of dentistry and offers her service with compassion and kindness, knowing that our patients personal needs and comfort are as important as their physical health. Ali has been with Smile Quest since 2004.  She enjoys playing tennis with her husband, running, and watching movies in her spare time.

Elizabeth, Registered Dental Assistant

Elizabeth joined the Smile Quest team after returning back to California following eight years in Georgia. Elizabeth has over fifteen years experience in the dental field. We enjoy her southern charm as she makes all of our patients feel comfortable and at home. When she is not working, Elizabeth enjoys the outdoors riding quads and raising her five year old son.

Janet, Dental Hygienist

Janet grew up in Roswell, NM and graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Child Development and Family Relations. While at BYU, she met her husband of 27 years. They have five children ranging in age from 13 – 26 years in age and have lived in the area for the past thirteen years. Janet also holds a degree in Dental Hygiene from Sacramento City College and enjoys working with the terrific patients of Smile Quest Dental helping them maintain outstanding oral health! Her hobbies include reading, SCUBA and travel.

Shauna, Dental Hygienist

Hi, my name is Shauna and I am a licensed dental hygienist here at Smile Quest dental in Rocklin. I love my job and enjoy getting to know and helping all of my clients. It is important to me that you know I care about your oral health and that I enjoy getting to know each of the people I work with. I strive to provide an environment that is friendly, comfortable and gentle.

As your dental hygienist it is my responsibility to make sure that your teeth cleaning, x-rays, and sealant applications are all done thoroughly with all the latest dental technology, comfort and care you expect. I spend part of each day educating people on proper oral hygiene. If you ever have a question, don’t hesitate to ask.

Amanda, Dental Hygienist

Helping people smile is what Amanda loves about being a hygienist. Upon graduating dental hygiene school, the Sacramento District Dental Society awarded Amanda for her exceptional clinical and communication skills and overall contribution to the dental team.   The rapid growth in technology and constant advancement of the dental world is what draws Amanda to dental hygiene as a career. Interacting each day with her patients is what she loves about her job.

When she isn’t working here at Smile Quest Dental, she enjoys being outdoors. Some of her favorite activities include playing soccer, riding quads and dirt bikes, wakeboarding, hiking, and camping. She loves a good joke and making people laugh.

Sandy, Registered Dental Assistant

Sandy has enjoyed the dental field for eight years. She enjoys the personalized service we offer our patients. In her off time she enjoys spending time with her loving husband and two dogs. She enjoys a wide variety of music and doing many outdoor activities such as hiking and camping.

Carolyn, Registered Dental Assistant

Carolyn especially loves making new patients feel warm and welcomed. She thrives on constantly exceeding the expectations of our patients. In her spare time she enjoys being outdoors, time with her fiancé and sports such as basketball and baseball.

Bianca, Registered Dental Assistant

Bianca is the newest member of our back office team. She is very dedicated to the comfort of our patients and has a special way with making our patients feel very comfortable and relaxed. When she is not working she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter.
