CHARLES SMURTHWAITE, DDS, MS
We think its fantastic you found us. I am Dr. Charles Smurthwaite and I want to personally welcome you to our practice. We believe that a great looking and healthy smile can improve your entire outlook on life and contribute to greater overall health. This belief has motivated me through advanced training in laser periodontal therapy, neuromuscular occlusion, and orthodontics at the Las Vegas Institute and the Strait-Wire Academy. Cosmetic dentistry and orthodontics are truly my passion. An artistic element, advanced training and the latest technologies in dentistry come together to create the perfect smile for our patients. I’m grateful for the confidence so many have placed in our team at Smile Quest Dental.
My family and I are residents of Rocklin and have a vested interest in the long term direction of our community. We are active in the community with our kids who attend local public school. It is not uncommon to see patients around town, so don’t be a stranger!
Dr. Smurthwaite is a graduate from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. He received a Masters Degree in Biology from Southern Illinois University and a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology from Brigham Young University. He has received advanced training in Laser Periodontal Therapy, Neuromuscular Occlusion from the Las Vegas Institute and Orthodontics from Invisalign and the Strait-wire Academy.
JEREMY STARR, DDS
Dr. Jeremy Starr was born and raised in the Sacramento area. Dr. Starr completed his education at Sacramento City College, California State University Sacramento, and completed his dental education at UC San Francisco. After practicing for a time in the State of Oregon, Dr. Starr decided to come and be closer to family here in Northern California. He and his wife have 4 children, 3 boys and a little girl, all under the age of 9. Dr. Starr’s hobbies include playing the guitar, singing and snowboarding.
JAMIE LAPIERRE, DMD
Dr. LaPierre, a Massachusetts native, attended Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts for dental school. Before attending Tufts University, he completed a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry at Brigham Young University. Dr. LaPierre is a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and the Sacramento District Dental Society.
Dr. LaPierre firmly believes in providing state of the art, relationship-based, comprehensive dental care that is tailored to fit into the lives of his patients. He looks forward to cultivating thoughtful and effective relationships with both patients and peers alike. He also believes in giving back to his community.
When Dr. LaPierre is not working he enjoys spending time with his lovely wife, Michelle, and their three energetic sons. They enjoy running, ultimate frisbee, camping, and swimming, as well as playing the guitar or piano together. He also enjoys participating in his local LDS Church community, watching Red Sox games, and perfecting his Boston Baked Beans recipe.
DANIEL LOVELAND, DMD
Dr. Daniel Loveland was raised in the beautiful foothills of Northern California. He earned a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience at Brigham Young University then continued with his dental education at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. Following dental school he completed an advanced education in general dentistry residency program in Shingle Springs, California, where he learned advanced procedures to help him better serve his patients.
Dr. Loveland appreciates modern dentistry and finds fulfillment in caring for his patients. He loves to learn and receive advanced training in many aspects of dentistry, and constantly strives to improve as a clinician.
Dr. Loveland loves spending his free time with his family. He and his wonderful wife, Ashley, have 7-year-old twins, a boy and a girl, who keep them busy and entertained. They love to travel, visit family, and discover new places along the way. Dr. Loveland loves to play golf with his son, dad, and brothers. He also enjoys playing basketball, wake surfing, playing board and card games, and reading.

TRICIA – CLINICAL ADMINISTRATOR
Tricia has been in the dental and management profession for just over 22+ years. In addition to a strong work ethic an undeniable commitment to her four children and husband resonates in her core values. Residing in our community is certainly a plus when it comes to knowing our patients, friends and neighbors.

STEPHANY – ASSISTANT TEAM LEAD
Stephany moved to the Roseville area in 2001 from the Bay Area. She joined Smile Quest Dental in 2013 and appreciates working with a friendly and knowledgeable staff. In her downtime, she enjoys spending time with her husband, watching her daughters play sports, and going on weekend trips with her family. Her favorite hobby is scrap booking and enjoys having time with friends to get together and scrapbook her photos.

LACEY- RDA EF2
Before entering the dental field, Lacey worked with children for 11 years. She recently finished her RDA Certificate program through Carrington College. Although she’s a newbie to being an RDA she loves the new change and the challenges that come with it. Her favorite part about being an RDA is working with the patients and meeting new people every day. She believes that a positive attitude and hard work is what it takes to succeed in this field. Lacey has lived in Rocklin for the past 12 years with her husband of 15 years and their two beautiful daughters. She values human connection and feels that family and friends are the greatest gift in life. She enjoys spending time with the people she loves, whether it’s a lazy day at home or a day of play at the beach.
WHITNEY- RDA
Whitney has been a registered dental assistant for almost 9 years and has been a Smile Quest Dental Employee for 2 years now. She loves working with the amazing team here as we all help make a difference in our patient’s life by changing their smile. When she’s not working, you can find her at the gym! She is very passionate about fitness and loves to compete in fitness competitions year round. She can’t wait to improve your smile!
KARI- HYGIENIST
Kari is one of our dental hygienists. She grew up in Georgia and Washington. She went to Pacific University Oregon for Dental Hygiene where she graduated as one of the top in her class. She enjoys doing things outdoors such as camping and hiking. She also loves doing mud runs and other fun runs where she can stay active and have fun getting dirty. Her favorite thing about working at Smile Quest Dental is having all the amenities available to patients so that their fears don’t keep them from having beautiful and healthy smiles.
STEFANIE – RDH
Prior to dental hygiene Stefanie worked as an RDA for 3 years until she decided to further her education in the dental field. She completed dental hygiene school at the top of her class and received the distinguished dental hygienist award. She loves what she does and strives to make every patient’s experience comfortable and enjoyable, while helping them achieve their dream smile. In her spare time she enjoys working out and doing anything to stay active. She also loves to just relax at home with her two very spoiled dogs.
